Is Sussex co all digital? Iam looking into buying a new handheld scanner. I will be moving back to Delamr in about 3 months. I know that Sussex and Wicomcio use to different systems. What type of hand held is out there that can use both systems?

If there is any digital around, you will want to go that way. There are only two handhelds now. The Pro 96 & the Uniden BCD396. Check out the specific forums on this site.

Hello,

Sussex Co is part of the State Digital Trunked Radio System. If you are looking for a HH that will work with Sussex Co and Wicomico, Uniden's BCD396T or RadioShack/GRE PRO 96 will work nicely on both systems.

or the 250d+digital card
It will only work temporary. Once Rebanding occurs in the State, the BC250D+Digital Card will no longer TrunkTrack the State System. Do you buy for today or tommorow?

I don't know what Dave told you, but the BC250D is not firmware upgradeable. See the wiki for info. Yes, I am aware of who you are. I have read a few of your posts. A little FRIENDLY advice: Don't be such a Troll, and practice a little patience when writting in the forums. Please don't take my advice harshly. :)

Hi All,
No the 250 is not upgradable but will serve just fine for UHF systems and EDACS trunking once rebanding takes place....which is looking later and later if you read the press.

There are some nice updates in the "Scanning Forum" under the "Rebanding" Sticky....looks like the anticipated squabbling between various public safety agencies & Nextel is quite intense. I'd be surprised if previously suggested freq transfer timelines are anywhere close to being on target. Has anyone come upon direct info on how these negotiations are going in DE?

Well,
I have no direct information except that all DE freq's are to move down 15 Mhz across the board.

I have seen no licenses issued in the tri state area for re-banding except for Peco Energy (As they move to a Pro-Voice system).

All is not well in re-banding world and it's just the beginning.

So as not to completely hijack this thread, Add the Uniden 296d to those that will be rebanded and work well without a ton of bells and whistles.

Dave
