I am thinking about buying a Uniden BTC-15X to run in Close Call Only mode in my truck while running Proscan on my PC. My questions are:

If I add a GPS receiver will Proscan log the location along with the usual data?

Does anyone have a suggestion for a inexpensive GPS receiver? I see many for sale with DB9 plugs prewired on AliExpress. Are they following a wiring protocol for GPS data?

The data transfer cable that comes with the BTC-15X is a DB9 to connect to the computer? Any suggestions for a USB-A version that is known to work?

What does the BTC-15X do when if finds a trunking control channel that is not in the data base? Does it start to decode the control channel?

Thanks for any info. (I tried to add tags but it was not working)

I can only answer one part of your question, but here it goes...

As far as the GPS unit, I bought a 9600 baud DB9 plug GPS off of eBay for $15 I think. It worked beautifully right out of the box on my BCT15X.

Location
Port Charlotte FL
and set the back port to the speed used to communicate with an attached GPS device (default 4800 bps). Note that the back port is male. You may need a gender changer and a null modem adapter to use a typical DB9 serial cable from the rear port.
