I now have three DMR radios, an AnyTone 578, an AnyTone 878 and a Wouxun KG-UVN1. All three do a very good job with DMR. The two AnyTones will take 500,000 digital contacts. The Wouxun will take only about 5,000 contacts. In either case, I don't want to program any more than what I would talk to in my area of SC and GA. How does one go about segregating the contacts to get only the ones I need? Does the digital contact website have any tools to accomplish this? I don't readily see anything like that on Home . Perhaps there is another website others here at RR use to accomplish this. (Hold on, I just uncovered something under the "accept cookies" banner...) It does have a list generator, but I'm sure someone here has gone through this before.

Would downloading all the digital contacts up to 500,000 be feasible? Would doing this slow the radio down using all the memory available?

Darn, it looks like I have to subscribe to radioid.net to generate a downloadable digital contact list. Oh well...

I've found its not worth the memory/time to create a comprehensive contact list. I only add the few friends I may direct message/call. The rest is handled with OTA Alias. If OTA alias isn't working, it doesn't bother me that there is no call/name shown on the radio, since any contact identifies verbally anyways.
