I have some questions about some frequencies in use (or licensed in) Montgomery County.

1. I see Montgomery County Fire is licensed for both 46.12 and 46.10 MHz. I have heard traffic in the past on 46.12 (127.3). What is 46.10 used for, or is it used at all? All I ever hear in Latham is Rensselaer County Fire Paging.

2. Amsterdam Fire moved to 453.3875 a while ago. Do they still use 46.16 at all? Is 46.16 patched through to 453.3875 for county units to be able to monitor City Fire?

3. The County has a license for 158.865 MHz. with base stations only, and the base stations have a pretty high ERP. Is this a current (or future) paging network for the county? Again, in Latham, the only thing I regularly hear on 158.865 is the input to the Rensselaer County Sheriff's Department repeater on 155.655 (156.7).

Thanks,
Kevin

1. 46.120 (127.3 PL) Is the Countywide Fire Dispatcher KED486. I have heard that 46.100 Mhz is used for Fire in the West Villages of Montgomery County, but I have yet to hear any Montgomery County Fire Comms on this frequency, maybe it is due to the fact that I live in the Northeastern corner of Montgomery County. As you might notice 46.100 IS NOT licensed to Hagaman, Fort Johnson or Cranesville Volunteer Fire departments, which are all located in eastern Montgomery County. 46.100 Is licensed to the Fort Plain Volunteer Fire Department whcih is located further west in the county, so maybe it's power output is not strong enough for me to hear it when a western village fire department key up from my location here in Northeastern Montgomery County.

2. I have not heard any radio comms on 46.160 Mhz by the Amsterdam Fire Department in years now. They do use 453.3875 (203.5 PL) Repeater, and 458.3875 (203.5 PL) Input all the time now.

3. According to my old notes from fordyce.org it shows that 158.865 Mhz is used for County Services. I do not know what it's exact purpose is, sorry. I do not have this frequency in my scanner.

check out 159.42

snorkle is right check out 159.420. It is a great frequency to have in your scanner for Montgomery County fire. You will hear both ends of the conversation much clearer than listening to 46.120 (127.3 PL). The only drawback to 159.420 is that there is no PL Tone assigned to 159.420 so you have to monitor 159.420 in CSQ, and there are other agenices that also use 159.420 so there is alot of comms on this frequency many of which are not Montgomery County related. The way that I set-up 159.420 in my scanner is as follows.

46.120 (127.3 PL)
159.420

What I do is I keep 46.120 (127.3 PL) going most all of the time and I keep 159.420 locked out. When I hear a call go out on 46.120 (127.3 PL) I lockout 46.120 (127.3 PL) and I unlock 159.420 (CSQ) so that I catch both ends of the conversation. When the call is over and the fire departments involved in the call are back in quarters, I once again lockout 159.420 and I then unlock 46.120 (127.3 PL) until another call goes out. This is just my way of trying to eliminate hearing alot of comms on 159.420 that have nothing to do with Montgomery County.
