I really do not like these generic tones for all stations :(. I really miss lake county fire tones, where you hear the tones and know exactly what station was being paged out. It seems more and more depts are moving away from personal tone outs. Why? I mean it only saving what second or two?

Same reason you don't see funeral homes running ambulance services anymore, or steam powered fire engines... Progress. Analog tones sound neat, but the modern alerting systems being used to replace the 1960's era tone sets save time.. and a lot of it. Add in loss of coverage from the FCC narrow-banding, and other systems start to make more sense.

Not many areas left to hear using tones in central Florida. Certainly not Lake county alone. The others have also gone away too.
