i guess the question is- have you had this problem on this board?

No I haven't, but I can tell you that I work with this software all the time, and I am a web programmer by trade, and if I had a chance to look at the code, I could tell you it has nothing to do with the PC or browser (unless it's running any javascript, which would make it a browser specific issue), it's the PHP programming that has a bug.

sure

Sure, I would be more than happy to. In most cases in you go back to the site that you downloaded it from, the programmer should be fairly receptive to taking in a bug request, because he/she is most likely not aware of the problem. I'll take a peak at it tonite.

This "lock-up" problem was something noticed by the admins shortly after the software change. It is intermitent, seems to happen in cycles and Lindsay has not been able to locate a problem, which tends to bolster the fact the problem is in the software itself. It seems to manifest itself mostly with quoted text and length of quote does not seem to be a factor. Oddly enough a work around is to copy the text from the post you want to quote, then paste it in your reply and surround it with the quote and /quote blocks yourself.

The quoting functions are javascript based I believe, not PHP - therefore it may be an issue with certain JVMs..... I am aware of this as a small issue.... we'll look into it further (it's low priority right now with everything going on)

Lindsay,
Have to asked on the vBulliten board about this?
Are others systems having this problem, or could it be one of the hacks unique to your board?

I'll stop with the Katrina thread so you can have more time to sort this out.

Javascript is a funny thing - and depending on which JRE you have installed on your machine, it could be the source of the problem.

I'll get of my arse here soon and see if I can't get down to the root of the problem.

The problem is still there. I did a cut-n-paste today on a lengthy quote, and still had the lockup.

Dang!

folks, I upgraded the forums to 3.0.10 today, which should have fixed this issue. Please let me know if you continue to get lockups on the quotes....

Thanks!

Somewhere in this room. Right now, you're very col
It's been happening to me in the past and it just happened again. Crashed the whole browser. Had to end-task it and then fire it up again. Was replying to a thread in the AZ forum about the PRO-96. It was kinda wordy too. Really don't feel like typing all that out again.

I understand why Lindsay wanted to upgrade the boards but I honestly liked the old ones much better - I never had problems with quotes while posting. Oh well. Just reporting a "bug" that may be due to something on my end - who knows?

Ok, I know I've seen this issue fixed in an update release - it may have been the larger update release of 3.5.1 which we'll go to soon.

Be patient with me, or use firefox, until we can get this resolved.

It is a javascripting issue in MSIE which I believe VB had to workaround.
