R2500 Remote Head Works With PCR2500

For what it's worth, I now own both a R2500 (Japanese version with no P25) and a PCR2500 (US version cell blocked with P25). Today I finally got around to trying the R2500's remote head on the PCR2500.

Despite Icom's claim that it won't work due to "key internal differences", I can confirm it works fine. Why Icom wouldn't offer the remote head as an option to add to the PCR2500 is beyond me.

The only reason I can guess is that they want to be sure to get the extra money selling the "R" version.

Is the P25 module working in the 800MHz band?

You'd think they'd sell the remote head though as an option, and probably get more money for it than the difference between the price of the PCR2500 and R2500 (about $150.00).

As for the P25 module, not yet it isn't. From the other thread we know that a mod can be done to make it work, but I hope there is a firmware equivalent. The P25 audio quality is astounding; the best I've heard of any radio yet.

Eric, I'll check that tonight, I hadn't thought of it. After rebanding it'll no longer be an issue anyway, but it certainly is now.

Mine tunes to 866.9875, and then jumps to 896.0125. Bastages!!!
