Is there any method to update or alter the firmware in the R8500? I would like to alter the available step sizes specifically.

If I get it right, step sizes are determined by the abilities of the PLL circuitry, not by the firmware....

I was hoping to be able to use 15 KHz., 7.5 KHz. and 6.25 KHz. step sizes to search the newly reorganized bands. Since these are all multiples of existing step sizes I was hoping that the PLL steps would be controlled in some sort of firmware that could be altered.

Oh well, couldn't hurt to ask around!

Thanks!

Rich, I would pose the question to Icom. They should listen more to the end user and they do not.

If enough of us bother them maybe they will start listening.

I sent an email about the R2500 not being able to display NAC codes detected and they only stated that you can only set the NAC codes not display them. Why only go half way for the end user?
