R8600 R8600 Screen Saver While Scanning?

I have my R8600 screen saver set to 15 minutes. If i do not touch the radio while listening to the VFO or memory the screen will turn off as expected. However, while in scanning mode the screen always stays on. Is this normal behavior or is there a setting I am missing to allow the screen to turn off while scanning?

While scanning with my IC-705 the screen turns off after the allotted screen saver time is reached.

Yes this is 'normal' as the receiver is active with a programmed/memo scan.

During such operation as a programmed/memo scan if you want to turn the screen off, press and hold the P-LOCK button. This will turn off the screen and your scan will continue with the screen off.
