I think I'll tie wrap those rabbitt ears on my head and run the wire thru my shirt to the GOLD BNC adapter on top of my scanner; and see what the guys in the Likker store think--- :)

You guys really haven't stumbled upon anything new. Back in 1988 Radio Shack made a small portable amplified antenna with rabbit ears for handheld or small tvs. I bought it for my pro 39 when I saw it in Monitoring Times as a great antenna for scanners. It had a 1/8 inch plug which you had to convert it to rca then to bnc. I don't think they make a 1/8 to bnc yet....but here is my 296 that I use it with now. The antenna is no longer available but the model number is 15-1607. It is an awesome antenna and I'm sure any set of rabbit ears even amplified is better than the duckie. I also use it in my vehicle when I'm riding to get rid of the static on analog systems.

I used to work with a guy who got really turned on to scanning when he saw my spankin' new Pro-92. He went right out and bought his own 92 and one of those little amped rabbit ears. He used those things every day from then on and he could pull in the Oakland 800MHz EDACS system full quieting when it wouldn't even break squelch on the rubber duck. I'd say it was a worthwhile investment. Then I collapsed his antennas all the way down and guess what, it got even BETTER. Go figure, an amplified dipole.

So play with it.

BS!!!!
Antenna design is every bit of science.

Science YOU don't understand just looks like MAGIC (what you call "Theory")

Might I suggest a Google search as follows. "Antenna Theory"

Or just the following link for a start.

You said "Antenna design is not science it is theory"

So you separated science from theory.

This indicated to me that you were using the word theory to mean:
"a tentative theory about the natural world; a concept that is not yet verified but that if true would explain certain facts or phenomena"

Rather than,

"a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world; an organized system of accepted knowledge that applies in a variety of circumstances to explain a specific set of phenomena "

I would say you would be hard pressed to find an antenna that works on some yet unproven "theory"!
