I have a caller who said that the Sheriff and some of the city police agencies have switched to NXDN in the last week or so.

Does anyone have confirmation on this and perhaps some RAN codes?

A search at NXDN Frequency Search Results does not show any NXDN license results for the sheriffs department.
I searched the FCC ULS and all results for the sheriff are conventional.
I believe that I'm within receiving range here in Clay county NC but I have never heard any traffic from Rabun county sadly. Its on receiving wish list.

Agreed, the licenses do not reflect NXDN as of yet. My caller said it was the radio shop that advised they switched to NXDN and the radios used are Kenwoods so perhaps it is a "switch now, license later" type of situation.

I've noticed that some places that have already migrated their VHF conventional channels to narrowband, don't always change emission designators when they decide to go digital. Not saying that this practice is okay or otherwise, just stating what I've noticed. YMMV. I'm a couple counties west of Rabun, so I'll see if I can pick up any of their traffic from here and will advise if I do.

Update - I heard Rabun SO using NXDN 6.25 kHz for 2-way traffic between Dispatch and patrol units on 155.130 with a RAN of 36.
I used a Kenwood NX-5700 VHF radio as a receiver since my Uniden SDS-200 (with NXDN upgrade) wouldn't Rx the channel clearly, even using same outdoor antenna.
The NXDN digital signal is fully quieting over here on the Kenwood rig.
The SDS-200 did pick up multiple hits of static on the FD and Public Works channels and logged the correct PL tones, so even though I can't copy their audio on those channels, they're apparently still analog.

I also can verify traffic on 155.130 RAN 36 this afternoon. I received no other Digital traffic from Rabun county.
The dispatcher called out "on digital" for one transmission in reference to contacting the EMS. Might be using mixed mode right now.

Is Rabun going encrypted with this new digital. I was just about to get my new scanner all dialed up but if its encrypted i might just sent it back.

No way to know until they flip the Big E switch. Well unless you know someone in the Rabun PD.

I doubt it will be encrypted if it isn't already. Most of the time encrypted systems aren't the choice of the user by a switch or button so that would mean they would have to reprogram all radios currently in the field which would be a lot of work and headache for no reason.

There is no "Rabun P.D." (Rabun county police?)

The local law enforcement agencies in Rabun county are the county Sheriff's office, the cities of Clayton, Mountain City, Dillard and Sky Valley. Tallullah Falls is partially in Rabun county, but is "claimed" as Habersham co.

That is a cluster of counties that didn't have County Police.

Fine then: "Well unless you know someone in the Rabun Sheriff's Department."
I don't understand why some members feel the need to critique the replays in this forum? What purpose does this serve?

Oh wow..... There are "County Police" agencies in some counties. Not "critiquing" your statement, just making a clerical / factual observation. Relevance also, there are several cities in Rabun county that are dispatched by their own dispatcher, an adjoining agency dispatcher, and some at night, by the Sheriff's office. A conversion to NXDN by the Sheriff's office could potentially trigger the other agencies to go to NXDN as well.

Regardless, it's the Rabun "County" Sheriff's office.

I can verify today that this one is still analog:
155.66250 WQIU981 RMRC911Rabun E-911 FMN Emergency Ops

Have not caught any further NXDN traffic on any frequency in a while.

I have an analog scanner and live in Rabun County. Can't get dispatch on 155.1300. Sounds like all digital traffic.

Everything that I have checked are still analog. I usually just listen to sheriff dispatch and fire dispatch. Still get fire 154.4300
