Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Radio options in the GR500 repeater

I was curious as to which radios Motorola offered when their GR500 repeater came out. I tried looking at various photos and I think they offered the GM300 (2) or a single r1225. I would think that there might be a few others, but did they ever come with 2 of the CM200 radios?

Radios like the r1225 and the GM300 are like 7" wide, so they fit nicely into the enclosure, but the GM200's are only like 6.75" wide and a very sloppy fit. A GR500 that I just acquired came with the CM200's, and it seems to work OK, but they don't fit very well

The original GR300/500 was designed for the GM/Radius/Maxtrac line. Over the years folks have used a mix of radios, including SM50, M1225, and the CDM Series. I have used CM200/300 as well. The GR1225 came out later and used the same chassis as the GM300/Radius Mobile.

As for did they ever come with 2 CM200 the answer is no. Our shop had built some plates at one point when we used the M1225 to fill in the area.

OK, thanks for that info. I kind of thought the CM radios weren't original. I do have another GR500 that has the single r1225 and also have a GR1225, with the r1225. Definitely a little easier to set up than this one with 2 radios.

Both of the CM200's seem to be putting out proper wattage, with a lower watt version set as the RX radio and the 25-40 watt for the TX radio. I just used some shims to get the radios fitting tighter into the housing.

I have the proper cables and RICK, but I must have something set wrong in the radio settings. It's receiving and transmitting (23 watts before duplexer and 18 after, set at low power) but the reports are the audio is really low. I'll keep tinkering, but thanks again for the info

You didn't specify what its being used for HAM and GMRS are wdeband. If its set for narrowband it will sound low.
I guess I probably should have added to this thread rather than starting a new one about programming the CM200's. I hate tying up the forums with my questions.
I'm using it for GMRS (backup repeater) and was successful is programming them in wideband
