Hi there.. I've been doing some experimenting with my scanner last couple of nights and I have a question regarding sensitivity.
Happened to find a relatively small antenna for the scanner.. I'm pretty sure it's a CB antenna with a loading coil. Bought a BNC adapter. hooked it up and it seemed to have pulled in a couple of extra frequencies the OEM stubby wouldn't.
There are hot box detectors ( Railroad) not far from the train station, I know this because I heard them on somebody's ham radio transciever.
When I am looking at new scanners, how do I know if the scanner in question has decent sensitivity to pick up signals compared to a scanner that has crappy sensitivity?
Thanks!
