Hello,

I am new to this, and recently got a Radio Shack Pro 92 Trunking scanner. I am getting a little lost in the sauce as to whether this police scanner is even programable and compatible with any systems in the greater nashville area, from a Trunking perspective. I don't have a need or desire to listen to anything that isn't trunking, aka Air / Ham / that kind of stuff. Only trying to determine if this trunking scanner is compatible with the trunking systems around Nashville.

Second question, is there such a thing as sending these to folks on the forum & paying a fee to have them programmed? Apparently a Pro 92 is a pain in the rear to program without software. Which is fine, but I only have a mac, and the software to program them, to the best of my knowledge, leans Windows.

Thank you!

Not capable of received public safety in that area without doing P25. It a very old scanner and not up to todays radio systems.

Much of it encrypted anyway even Fire. Anything DE in the database linked below is full time encrypted and anything De is part time encrypted.

I have two Pro-92s, and while they were fine scanners in their day (like the early 2000s) they are definitely not up to date for scanning modern P25 trunked systems. And you're correct, they are a PITA to program without software (which I don't have). They are still fine for any conventional stuff though.

Based on some HAM folks I know that live in and around Sumner, there's going to be a nonstop uproar if they encrypt their main channels, apparently to a point where protests will evolve. There's still a large scanner community in Sumner county from what I gather. I live in Putnam just south of Cookeville and CPD just decided to go fully encrypted for whatever reason, several people here aren't happy about it.
