Came into an old Radio shack Pro-18 digital iScan handheld scanner. I have the softare and all that jazz but the database isn't supported anymore.
I'm trying to figure out how I can get an updated RR database file compatible with the software, and scanner, preferably to just straight-load onto the SD card, or send through iScan, but if someone can help me with this, I'll owe you bigly!

I'm most interested in getting it updated with Travis County, Austin, Central Texas area, but would prefer the ability to just update the entire database in the scanner.

For now, I would avoid using the unofficial upgrade. Whistler was just purchased by Goliad Products LLC. The servers are not available yet for any updates. Let's wait and see if the new owner continues to offer the legacy upgrade. It adds both P25 Phase 2 and DMR to the PRO-18 as well as improved performance. It would be well worth the upgrade to a WS1080 if offered. The PRO-18 iSCAN software doesn't even have the ability to save a programming file.

Whistler servers are back up.
Would I still need to send it in for a hard reset or is there a way to use the software to update the database? I am probably just going to sell this one as is, I've got it picking up most everything locally, I was able to go in and manually update all the TRS freqs and ctr channels, talkgroups, etc that I could find discreps with, and that really did wonders, but clearly it's still a dinosaur with limitations. I can make enough to offset my purchasing either an SDS100, OR, saying screw it and buying the BK KNG-P800 to program for true NAS functionality. Scanners are awesome, but I'm looking for upper echelon quality in a commercial grade rig, and the P800 is the only one on the market that's a true radio that will do it. The Unications come in a close second. So, Debating on how to proceed with this one.
