Radio Shack's new (yawn) PRO-84

I just saw Radio Shack's new (yawn) PRO-84 scanner. BORING!

Once again, just like the new PRO-2054, less is more? This is a stripped down, 200 channel (Sad!), non-digital, non-trunking conventional scanner. About the only thing it has going for it is alpha tags.

The color doesn't even match the red headphones. From the color on the web site, this looks more like a "Barbie" scanner! No thanks.

Hmmm, here's an idea. A new line of "Barbie" entry-level scanners in "fashion" colors, complete with bottles of nail polish and lip gloss in matching colors. Get the young girls started early on radio scanning, down the road the guys won't catch as much grief from their wives about spending money on new scanners. I can just hear the girls now: "Oh, I've just got to have that new scanner, it matches that dress I bought last week perfectly!" or "Honey, does this new Uniden make my butt look big?". :lol:

I have to agree...pretty sad attempt at a new scanner...How about a new compact digital GRE??

It's got the NASCAR logo on it, so it and the headsets will sell. Pixy dust always sells.

Heck if it has Alpha Tags I might be interested. Once it goes on clearance...

My first to scanners didn't have digital or trunking because I didn't need it. But they sure as hell didn't cost me $200, thats a little much.

yea same here i really dont like the desgin of the scanner and really i though the next scanner by GRE would be a compact digital scanner.

From the picture and the NASCAR logo I figure this is another rebadged Uniden.

NASCAR branded BC92XLT-->Uniden OEM-->GRE-->PC/IF-->PRO-83-->GRE-->PRO-99 dispaly-->PRO-84-->red glitter paint-->Hello Kitty Racey Scanner

Nope, my local store in northcentral Okla. has one, but it was still boxed up so I didn't see it.
