Currently have a Yaesu FTM-300 in my Yukon. Looking to get another radio for my Raptor and I am considering either another 300 or maybe going for the 500. In you opinions is the extra money? Pros and cons, for both are appreciated. Will be running a mag mount antenna on the roof until i can get it in to have the antennas installed on the roof.

When the FTM-500 came out, I didn't think the extra features justified the extra cost. So, I bought an FTM-300 which does what I needed (a dual-band dual-receive mobile with System Fusion).

You may now have a hard time finding another FTM-300. Most of the major online retailers are out of stock.

The FTM-500 has a front facing speaker on the control head as well. This may help with road noise.

I am planning on using the front center speaker in the dash as the external speaker. Regardless of buying a 500, or moving my 300 out of what is becoming the wifes daily. That or if someone desperately wants a 300, I'm willing to trade for a 500. Lol. Honestly the 300 in the Yukon hasnt been turned on since the install, I just dont get in it that often. So, I guess taking the 300 ans swapping is the right thing to do. Unless, someone really hates the 500.....
