RadioShack’s loss widens

The local RS store is funny. If something breaks
They say their not a RS store signs say different.

They say they know radios, I don't even go there anymore. Some kid asked me if I wanted a new cellphone, I told him were under contract with AT&T. He got mad so I left, spent my money elsewhere -never more...

Does their sign say "RadioShack" or "RadioShack Dealer". RadioShack Dealers are independent businesses who buy inventory from RadioShack and are licensed to used the store branding, etc. (many other rules).

In Elk City, the store listed as the local RadioShack Dealer is H&H Electronics.

I worked for a RS franchise store for a year back in the mid 1980s. They dabbled in a wide variety of electronics items then too, including computers (but not software very much), cell phones, satellite TV, and of course radios and electronics parts. The mark-up on most items was about 35%... they did alright (as an employee I got a 10% discount ;-)) I think that RS has been the victim of the "showrooming" phenomenon which has sunk a lot of other brick-and-morter hobbiest stores.

Speaking of the 80's... If you watch the superbowl tomorrow keep an eye out for a Radio Shack commercial. Another new marking campaign, lets hope it works this time! If anyone is so sure RS will go under, buy some put options and get rich. I see a spike coming on Monday, maybe 20%, followed by slight decline and leveling out for a while but hitting $5 at some point in 2014. Long call options are cheap right now...

RS got so bad that I would hold up my phone (Like a cross to Dracula) to fend off the staff trying to sell me one when I walked in the door. Soon they outsmarted me and when I'd hold up my phone they would say "Do you need a new battery for that?"

The Radio Shack stock has spiked already, back on January 22nd with increased volume....and while the indices are going down these last few days, the RSH stock has held steady......
