• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

From RT Systems website:
"RT Systems has chosen to cease support for programming Radtel radios.

The manufacturer is moving forward with programming via Bluetooth through their own app. RT Systems cannot support this programming. There is no longer cable programming for these models.

Unfortunately with this change, radio model numbers were not changed. Today there is no way to tell if you have a radio that will cable program or will not.

This change affects you in another way. If you have the programmer and purchase a new radio of the same model, chances are good that the programmer you have will not work with that new radio and cannot be made to. Be aware of this as you select radios in the future.

RT Systems wishes you the best for all your programming requirements. We will continue to help where we can."

RT makes programming my radios consistent and in many cases, possible. Radtel made a confusing move here, since the Bluetooth app and their desktop CPS is quite lacking in UI, functionality and stability. Why they would cut off the only decent supporting app for their radios?

I like Bluetooth programming though, and it'd be cool if RT could get that working. But a wired connection is faster, and more reliable.

Did they pull this same move on their new DMR radio, the 6D?

Apparently, Bluetooth programming is in the works for all models, and RT no longer offers anything for Radtel products, nor for the iRadio versions.

I don't plan to ever use Bluetooth programming, but it's a nice option. There's no way I'm putting a Chinese programming app on my personal phone, so I'd have to get a burner if I wanted to do that.

Poor decision by Radtel. RT Systems is well-respected, and their software works very well on all the radio models I use. I'd kinda want to work more closely with RT, if I were an independent radio manufacturer.

Question: Does the PC CPS program via BT or cable only? Or is BT programming only used with smartphone?
