• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

So far... this is the worst 'cheap' radio that I've purchased. Really wanted to like it, but it absolutely does not work on DMR for me. Little broken snippets of audio and that's about it (doesn't even show any RSSI activity when a channel is active). Radtel messaged me to say it's likely something proprietary on what I'm trying to listen to (it isn't) and R&D is 'looking into it'. This was a month and a half ago and it's sat in the box ever since, so... just my experience but buyer beware.

Thank you for this feedback. I don't have this radio, I relied on AliExpress reviews. if it's that bad, it's better to forget about it and stay on the MD380/390 PLUS which are more expensive but are better.

Yeah I tried to return it but they wouldn't accept it as I couldn't provide a video of it "not working" haha. My go-to for an off-brand radio has been Anytone. Very happy with the AT-168UV and 878UV.

Had you also bought it on AliExpress?

I recently got a pair of those and I'm not complaining as far as regular analog and DMR operations go. Considering it's a real cheap radio, that is.
There's only one "quirk" I'm not sure I can live with long-term: there doesn't seem to be a way to restrict remore stun/kill/wake commands, as in you can only disable RC it completely on the radio or you have it enabled, but then the radio will accept remote control from any other radio even if you're only using encrypted channels.

Bought a pair off Amazon for cheap AES radios. Really cannot complain. Adjusting the AGC down to 5 on digital produces clean audio. AES256 makes these great for cruise ship, amusement parks, etc where you don't want weirdo stalkers showing up. The CPS is fairly easy too. I really like these radios and this is from a guy that usually passes on CCRs but they work very well, are solidly built, and cheap enough. Sad that we can get AES encryption on DMR from Amazon but not on high tier MSI BMR radios unless you're a "special customer".

Why do you say that?

doesn't even show any RSSI activity when a channel is active

on aliexpress we see RSSI activity :

I just got my first DMR radio the Radtel RT-4D. I'm have a tough time getting DMR set up right. Any chance of a code plug with PAPA System (So. Calif) and maybe Brandmeister worldwide #91. This would help a lot. It would give me an example of real world DMR programming.

You should really learn how to do it. Post specific questions and you can get an answer, but just copying someone else's work is a disservice to yourself.
