Raglan in Durham

I'm gonna be in Raglan which is north of Oahawa I hope next weekend. I've been close to there before a few times, I have 2 questions if I may.

1) Pontypool and Sunderland are the local towers for Zone 1 I think?

2) Do I have a shot at scanning Fleetnet Zone 2? I might bring one of my decent antennas with me, if not I will be using regular antennas that don't favour anything. I'm guessing I might be able to scan the Peterborough tower or am I missing something?

With a decent antenna, you have a shot of picking up Whitby, Sunderland, or Pontypool, from there, honestly. Whitby is very optimal and actually the closest geographically I'd say, and you get all of Oshawa EMS "North" and "South", OPP gets you Toronto/Whitby/Aurora/407, usually. I'm not sure you'll get the "South" EMS traffic off Sunderland, I don't test it often.

You can effort the Peterborough site but I wouldn't hold my breath on that one on a vehicle mount or less, it is a fair distance out from there.

You will get site 25 Peterborough well in the Oak Ridges moraine elevation areas.

2OPS08 and 2OPS39 and 2OPS15 should come through for you. Sometimes in the evening, these are patched together.
Pontypool does carry some 2OPS15 and 2OPS39 and 2OPS08 traffic , because of Hwy 115 patrols .

Peterborough OPP have a reciprocal agreement with City of Kawartha Lakes OPP units to patrol down to Durham Line . Up where you will be, you should be able to pick up the Cobourg tower which also has Zone 2 units. 2OPS13

It was further out right at the border of 35/115 at 7 Concession in Kirby, just at the Durham/Northumberland border.

Took the 436 and 325 with normal antennas, I probably could have coupled my scanners to his TV tower if I had the appropriate SMA and BMC to the TV antennas.

Was able to snag Whitby tower, and both Peterborough and Cobourg tower in Zone 2.

Heard a fair bit of MOH from Lindsay and OPP from patches as far as Frontenac 3 R. Also heard a few upper NYS NOAA weather service stations as well as St Catharines.

Most of the guys were impressed with the ranges but huge amounts of alcohol, and MLB 2022 home run derby time took precedent, especially as the mosquitos dominated
