The UPRR police in Idaho is on p25 too. I hear them chasing trespassers all the time.

UP Houston frequencies

I'm, interested in listening to the rail roads here in Houston but have no ideal where to look,

Thanks.

Houston area. Try 160.470, 160.665, 160.740, 160.770, 160.830, 160.875, 160.995, 161.445. There should be plenty of traffic to monitor!

UP made some changes to their road channels last year that aren't reflected in the database.

The TD-2 channel (160.770) is now also the road channel for the Glidden and Rosenberg subdivisions (UP owns 2 miles south from Rosenberg to the KCS junction,) and 160.665 is now the road channel for the Palestine Sub north of Houston. Rosenberg operates under DTC but Glidden and Palestine are CTC-controlled and don't generate a lot of radio traffic. Other channels are as follows:

Union Pacific
TD-1: 160.995
TD-2: 160.770
TD-3: 160.875
Lafayette Sub (ex-SP): 160.365
Beaumont Sub (ex-MP): Duplicated with another freq but I forget which
Strang Sub: Controlled by TD-3
Galveston Sub: 160.47
Eureka Sub: 161.445
Navasota Sub: 160.830

160.740 is a Settegast Yard freq. Both it and Englewood have too many freqs for me to remember off the top of my head. Strang Yard in La Porte uses 161.280 but also has a bunch of switching freqs.

BNSF
Houston Sub (ex-BN/CRIP): 161.100
Galveston Sub: 161.190
Conroe Sub: 161.385

160.650 is also used in Bay City. Galveston yard is on 160.560.

KCS
Rosenberg Sub: 161.115 (base to train), 161.565 (train to base)

KCS uses a half-duplex system similar to how DPS used to operate.

PTRA
Road: 160.710 (also used by UP in Beaumont)
Pasadena Yard: 161.265

edit: One note about the railroad police - they aren't dispatched like a traditional police department, and use the radio very little. The TxWARN talkgroups are back channels, and they also have access to HPD, HCSO, and DPS channels as previously stated.
