Is anyone in here interested in, even in passing interest, railroads and hearing from past/present railroaders and railfans in a net-like setting? If so, do you prefer HF, digital or other for it? I am based in Northern California and I am planning a 2m net on a pretty wide area machine with an Echolink connection. I also want to get an HF net going and if needs be a digital net as well.

Regards,

I was leaning towards 20m or 40m for time of day that the net would take place, 0130Z(1830PT), and with how poor 10m has been lately, I haven't made a solid contact on 10m in months, I don't think it would be a good enough band for this net. I am planning to have a 2m net which has Echolink attached to it for after the HF net and possibly a digital net as well. For HF I would definitely use NetLogger.

Yes. 10 is very poor lately.
But I am a lowly tech.
I just have not upgraded, I did have a general in the 80s. but as life goes let it laps.
I got back to ham radio about 20 years ago as a tech.
Now as life goes, I don't have time to upgrade.
But a idea maybe 6 meters?
Any way, sounds like fun. This weekend we are out to a family get together in Vegas.
Let my XYL blow the retirement funds.
Keep in touch.

@oldradioguy2010 Good to know! The 2m Echolink connection is always a good way into the net if I work things out. Lowly tech's are always welcome!

Have fun in Vegas!
