• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am looking into getting a bcd996t. i am thinking about using a ram mount for it because the only other good mounting place is taken up by my cb and the other smaller space is taken by my bc350c. Has anyone ever tried using a ram mount to mount a scanner? If so, how does it work? any pictures would be great to!

i will be mounting this inside my 99 tahoe, i have bucket seats. the cb is mounted on one side of the console and the other scanner is mounted under the cd player.

I dont have my camera right now but i will post pics of my setup when i get it!

any suggestions?

Look at their website and check out the Amateur Radio mount section. I haven't used them for radio but have for other things (fishing) and I was real pleased with it. You might check out something like Ham Radio Outlet too as they have some comparable type mounting systems that may be alittle cheaper. I have a friend who's business is installing emergency equipment for Police Depts. He uses their laptop stands and everyone seems to be rather happy with them.

this was taken a few months before I got my 996 but you get the idea. the 996 hangs from the bottom of the tray using the mobile bracket it comes with. good and stable. I have the adjustable/removable arm assembly. I'm happy; that was money well spent. ;-)
`06 Tundra by the way.

So you have a 996 hanging below the laptop now? Got pics of that?

You may have to copy and paste this into your browser as it never seems to work for me when I post a link on here, but! Here is the link address to their webpage and the "Ham Radio" section of mounts... You can see that they make the mounts to handle a fair amount of equipment.

When you get done, make sure you take pics and share!
