My ticket is about to expire. Last time I used one of the re-licensing services and have just received a renewal notice from them. Will the FCC send me a re-license notice in the mail also. I have updated my address and the required FCC log in a while back.

Any help would be appreciated.

Unless things have changed recently, the FCC will not send an expiration notice.

The land of broken calculators.
The FCC doesn't send a renewal notice but you sure will have a crapton of junk mail from various sources reminding you your license is about to expire. I think there was even one solicitation from some company that will renew it for you for a fee! I just went through this recently.

Even if you forget, it's not like you don't have a 2 year grace period.

Instead of going through those services that charge you, do it for free on your own.

You can either print out the FCC form 605 and mail it in, or do the renewal over the internet.

1) Go to the FCC ULS website and login to Online Filing. FCC Universal Licensing System (ULS): ULS Home
2) Once logged in, click on "My Licenses" on the left.
3) Under the My Licenses menu, select "Renew Licenses"
4) Follow the steps provided.

That's it, very simple and free!

You can renew up to 90 days before your license expires.
If you have a Vanity Call, you will have to pay the fee for a Vanity Call again.

And if you make a mistake it will set you back even farther. these people do this for a business and FAX IT TO THE FCC. you do what you want but for my money I let them do it no fuss no muss.

Cheers.

I agree with WB4CS, renew using the FCC ULS system. It's quick, easy, it's free (vanity license aside), and it's where your changes will be made anyway. Why pay someone to make the changes for you when you can do it yourself for free. The process is quick using the FCC but may need to wait for the groups to have enough to work on before they start on them. Also there's more handling for those groups (you send it to them, they send it to the FCC, the FCC enters your data, the database changes are made) while if you do your own it's basically a one shot deal (you enter the data and the software puts it into the database).

As far as mistakes go, there's more chance that one of those folks will make one than you will yourself. If you make an error filling out their renewal form they'll simply copy that info into the ULS system. If the FCC rejects the entry due to that error, they'll send the rejection to them who will then send it back to you. If you do it yourself, the rejection is right where you do your entry and can correct it right then.

One thing you may need though, it your FRN. That's easy to find by searching for your call here License Search

You'll also need a valid password. That's also easy to get. As stated on the FCC login page ...
If you do not have either your access code or FRN and password, please call the FCC's Licensing Support Center at 877-480-3201 to get your access code.

Don't worry about the process, just read the questions and answer them (and don't think too hard about the answer either!), it's not hard. It's probably harder to check out at most online shopping sites than it is to renew using the FCC web site.
