Read error in sd card

436hp stuck in "city data table, Read error, please check city table_V1_00_00 dat in sd card" It will not turn off. PLEASE HELP! Is there any way I can reset it to the factory setting? I called the 800 # but always busy signals..

This is how it happened, I wanted to download sentinel software. I plugged usb in my mac " usb mass storage" but my mac didn't read it so I switched to my pc but unfortunately i did not turn off the power of my BCD436hp. Now I am stuck.

Failure of the microSD card is very common in both the new 436hp & 536HP scanners for some reason. They're inexpensive. Just go to Radio Shack, Best Buy, etc, and buy a new one. The stock card is only 4GB. I replaced mine with an 8GB. Problem solved.

Hopefully you had your programming backed up on your PC? If so, just copy it back.

Be sure to read the instructions for removing and inserting the microSD card, so you don't damage it's fragile socket.

Without getting the PC/MAC fight started, there have been multiple issues with users and MACS where MACS "corrupt" the card. There have also been users that get it to work.


I'd not use a Mac until I had it running and had a backup card.

Thank you so much for your help. Instead of getting a new sd card, I reformatted the sd card using the reformatter 4.0 and worked great. Thank you!
