Hi. Frustrated with what should be very easy.

Been having problems interfacing between my unit and Sentinel.....with respects to Reading and Writing.

First I created within the unit a simple Favorite List. Read from HP and it popped into Sentinel just fine.

Second I then appended several new frequencies into the Fav List I created originally in my unit. Hit Write to HP. Got a message asking if I wanted to Copy and Replace. Said yes. Seemed to then process fine. Unplugged USB which caused my unit to turn on to the scan mode. Checked my Fav List in my unit. For some reason my edited changes weren't reflected in my unit.

Third I created a totally new Fav List in Sentinel. Wrote to unit. Unplugged USB. The new List wasn't reflected in my unit.

I have everything set to Monitor and Download = On.

And just a few minutes ago I downloaded the most current DB in RR. Took a few moments to download. I then hit Write to Scanner so as to hopefully also update my unit. Unplugged USB. Went into my unit. The DB version now says 'XX/XX/XXXX' and I keep getting message "Warning.....all channels that are in range have been avoid. Change Service Types, your location, or range and remove some avoids". Hum.

So you can see that something I'm doing in the process is wrong, or something is corrupted. Things shouldn't be this difficult for such an easy process. Please help.

Sounds like you might have a failing SD card considering your previous problem.

Why Does Database Version always shows XX/XX/XXXX?

Try re-formatting your card or replacing it with a new one.

I actually returned an HP-1 a few weeks ago as I was having the same problem. I did re-format when i had my previous unit. Seems odd that I'm having this exact same problem with another unit. I really like the HP-1 and want to keep it, however, dealing with this problem is a pain. I would have thought the read/write process would be simple and foolproof.

I am using a Winbook TW801 tablet. It comes with a full version on Windows 8.1. There is a full size USB 3.0 connection.

Is the SD card showing in Device Manager? If so, it is showing as removable storage?

It's showing under Windows C: as a 'Removable Disk E'. In Device Manager it shows under the USB area as 'USB Mass Storage Device'.

In my unit, I just went into Restore Options and Cleared User Data and Resent User Settings. Wrote again the DB to my unit. Now it shows DB Version 01/04/2015. On my previous unit, I recall having to do this reset as well. Sometime doesn't seem right me having to always do this.

OK. I meant to say Windows Explorer, but you gave the info I was looking for. As was mentioned prior, I would say a card going bad or corrupted somehow. Maybe try CLEAR USER DATA in Sentinel and rewrite the card.

Our replies crossed, but glad that worked for you. No, you should not have to do that. It should be as simple as writing as you did most recently. You aren't doing anything weird like removing power from the unit without shutting it off, are you?
