Yes GRE will make it's return! I can't wait! BTW Uniden blows! I challenge anyone of you with a Uniden trunker and say a Pro-93,95, or 97 etc. Put the two beside each other and tell me which one follows a Motorola system better! The GRE always tracks the who transmission where as the Uniden will cut off about a half a second of some of the transmissons in the begining of the transmission. A transmission on a Uniden will sound like "107" instead of "Baker 107" which was actually said. It does it on all of them! from the Bct 235 all the way to the latest 996T. That's crap! If you don't beleive me, try it yourself. Ever since I encounterd this a few years ago I swore never to use a Uniden for trunking purposes again. I think if many of you will give the GREs a chance you will get rid of your beloved Unidens never to turn back again. Thank you GRE!

I am also extremely glad that GRE is releasing a new line of radio scanner. The main difference for me is all about acknowleding the customer. How many times have people expressed views or requested features in their Uniden radios only for it to be completely ignored. Not even a simple ''no sorry''. I do not appreciate spending $500 and then being totally ignored.

When ever I have expressed views or requested features to GRE in relation to their products they have always communicated and at least they respond. I look forward to these new GRE radios and plan to purchase the high end portable. I also look forward to selling my 4 Uniden radios on Ebay in the future.

Do you have the Battery Save feature enabled? Uniden enables this by default. It saves battery while holding on a conventional frequency by making fewer checks in the same amount of time, thus causing the beginning of a transmission to be cut-out.

The again, I don't know why a 996T would need a battery save feature :D.

Nope, been asked that before. I promise you it does it on all them. Just compare the two and you will hear what I am talking about.

The Uniden models have one very big benefit over the GRE units. That is the Usability of the scanners. The design of the user interface of the GRE units well stinks. This is why I got rid of my last GRE unit. It was a trunking unit and just hell to use .. and personally i will take a better designed user interface anyday.

I have to agree here, I have always found Unidens easier to use for trunking. I do like my GRE made radioes for vhf air though. Much more sensitive, and better audio. Maybe the new models will give us lazy guys both.

Let's hope these new GRE scanners don't suffer from signal overload like the 96/2096 does..

That all depends where you are and what you're monitoring. Where I live and monitor, I have no overload problems with the GREs. So as they say YMMV....

That may be the case for you on the current GREs. But you'll have to try the new ones when they come out and which is the main subject here.

You left out the digital motorboating! My Unidens did OK on analog trunking. But digital trunking...................that's another story! And the EDACS beeps came back with the 396 though I did not have them on previous Uniden trunking scanners.

I'm glad i bought the pro 96 for my first scanner the PSR-500 will be my second. Audio quality also has something to do with speaker and enclosure size. Uniden tried to make a small scanner with very little airspace for the speaker.
