Re-Banding is taking place in our county (El Paso Cnty Colorado) and some of our primary freq. are around 840.9375, 841.2375, 845.9625 and so on hopefully the point is made. Is there going to be any upgrade to account for this. Thanks

We will all be affected by rebanding sooner or later. If you are looking for a suggestion on how to make your scanner work correctly after your county has relocated in the spectrum I am sure the other members here and myself would be willing to help. I know some Uniden scanners are going to work after rebanding, I am not sure about the radioshack ones. If you would like to post and let us know what radio's you need help with I am sure someone would have some advice for you.

Those frequencies would be in the handset region of the Cellular bands... You won't be seeing a scanner capable of recieving those signals on those frequencies anytime soon (since that would be illegal).

That being said, I think you are about 10mhz off on your frequencies.. They would be more likely to fall into the 850-855 range.

Yes I know I put this post in both groups because I have both. YES I am sure about the freqs. I have a 296 396 996 Pro-96 and Pro-2096. I guess nextell has figured out a way to screw alot of us.

I looked at the system you're talking about. Most of the frequencies are not in the 866-869 range that move down the 15Mhz. It also states that it is a P25 system, which will not be affected by rebanding, other than that you will need to reprogram the control channels that change.

From what I see in the database, the only sites that should be affected by the rebanding are site # 412, 414, 415, 416, and 418. The other sites should see little to no difference in the frequecies that are currently in use.

You cannot possibly be sure about frequencies in the 840 MHz range with any of those scanners. Not one of them will tune in that range, which as somebody else pointed out, is allocated to cellular handsets.

The towers that you point out are the main towers in the system. Not sure what you are saying according to the radio people here is all towers are being affected. We'll see.

i see the problem now. frequencies between 855 and 860 will not reband so need to quit subtracting 15 mhz from them. Rebanding only effects 851 to 855 and 866 to 869 for outputs.

I think 860 - 866 will be discontinued. However, those in 860.0 - 860.9875 may be waved.

Briefly,

First, any current user from 851 to 853.9875 will vacate the current frequencies. These will be relocated to 854 - 859.9875.

Any current public safety user that is 860-860.9875 will have the option to relocate to the 854-859.9875 portion of the band.

All licensees on 866 - 868.9875 will be relocated down 15MHz.

Any conventional, LTR, or EDACS system will only require reprogramming (and perhaps antenna related work).

Any Motorola system (other than a very new system) that moves to 851-853.9875 will require reflashing or replacement of the radios and other hardware.

Nextel vacates all licenses from 851 to 861.9875 and gets the just cleared 866-868.9875 spectrum.

There is also considerable rebanding with TV equipment (remote pickup I believe, perhaps in the 1.9GHz band) This will not affect the scanner world.

I think that is a basic summary.

Being a 9600 P-25 system, the Pro-96 will have no problems tracking the system. That was the point I was trying to make and didn't do a very good job of it...

The towers I listed are located in the 866-868.9875 range. All of those will be moved down exactly 15 Mhz from where they are now. Those are the Only towers that will be moved down 15Mhz. The other towers may have one or two frequencies change, but should remain as they are now for the most part.

I am not sure what the OP was trying to do with this to begin with. He has invalid frequencies and has posted this same question in multiple forums. I am closing all of them in hopes that he does a little checking before asking how to tune Cell Phone frequencies again.
