I am working on updates to the CARMA Profile and have updated a few sites that I know have already been rebanded.

Can any of our downstaters help out and let me know if any Zone 2 or Zone 3 sites have been rebanded?

So far I know of these Sites that have been rebanded:
146 (McHenry County)
147 (DeKalb)
359 (St. Clair County)

If you are running Pro96Com you can see if the sites have been rebanded obviously by the frequencies reported, but also check the Site Information tab for Adjacent Sites and see if any of these are reporting new freqs.

If it helps any I was in Effingham today at 11 am Central when on the channel D10 Disp A, a unit came on and said they were in service in route to the dispatch center for rebanding. The Unit ID was 3 Frank 41 or 71 if that helps any. I'm afraid I was driving and didn't get a look at the CC for it.

ISP District 10 just rebanded to 700 mgz.

I will load up Pro96Com and see what the Paris Tower is talking bout :)

on the other hand..I was just on that tower last night and it was still 800 on the CC, at least I think...yeah because I listen to D12 off of Paris too and when I was in headed to Paris I was listen to the Paris Tower.

Let me correct my last thread.... They should be up on 700 mghz now if not very soon. They had their radios reprogrammed early last week. they also got different lapel mics that are noise reducing so you may be able to hear them more clearly when they are outside now! :)

I think what you are seeing is that if you had an issued radio and didn't bring it in to be rebanded they are going to want that radio returned. They paid money if you had an issued radio to take it in and get this done. If not it will not work so they want them back and will issue them to somebody that does want them. Is that clear as mud

Illinois Radio Rebanding Project
what does this mean? rebanding has expired?

There was grant moneys available to pay for the rebanding of radios supplied as part of the original grants obtained by ITTF and others. Those of us that brought their radios in on time for rebanding had the radios reprogrammed for free and actually were paid for the time and travel needed to have the radios returned and reprogramed.

Those who ignored the several notices to have their radios brought in on time now are responsible for having this done on their own dime.

The state had provided technicians at many locations around the state with ample notice to schedule appointments for this project.

Rich, when does the rebanding start for the N shore towns?

If you mean the narrowband project we already did Tac 6 (470.8375) and will reprogram Channel 24B (470.6625) next week, other channels about every week or 2 after that until we have all 8 channels done.

Many Pro96com Tower###.txt files have been added to Starcom21 YahooGroup files section. These are along I74 in central IL and were collected in the last couple of weeks.

"Rebanding"

I'm seeing an awful lot of confusion as this thread twists and turns...

The "rebanding" with regard to Starcom Rich is referring to is the 800 MHz rebanding - site and mobile frequencies get 15 MHz subtracted from their earlier assignments. With so many of these sites scattered across Illinois it would be very helpful to shout out to Rich when you notice your local site has changed 800 MHz frequencies - rebanded.

Generally speaking, its unlikely (but not impossible) that a Starcom site would switch from 800 to 700.

The 700 MHz public safety band allocations also keep getting revised and reviewed. Its possible that (eventually) we could see some 700 MHz sites change their frequencies because of this, but that hasn't happened yet.

Narrowbanding isn't a factor with Starcom, at least not currently. Narrowbanding will be coming to just about all of your conventional public safety systems now or in the next few years. Frequencies don't change, the transmissions switch from the regular narrow FM modulation used by land mobile operations to a narrower bandwidth. The result is usually a little less talk-out range from both bases and mobiles and a lower audio level (less dynamic gain). Many newer scanners have a "NFM" setting you can use to better hear these operations after they switch. Works very, very well on Unidens 250/780 and later series units.

Please report, one way or another, if you see a Starcom site getting rebanded - it's frequencies dropping by 15 MHz.

Thanks, and Happy Scanning! - Ted

As an addition to Ted's statement, all of the 866-869 MHz. StarCom21 channels will eventually be changing to the 851-854 range eventually.

There are other StarCom21 freqs not in the 866-869 range that will need to be adjusted as well, and there are no set alternatives to these, so where they end up will need to be found from listener reports and license updates.
