Is rebanding underway for Palmetto 800 TRS?

If so, how will my PRO 162 be affected if anyone knows?

If it is affected, how do I reband it?

I am missing parts of conversations....

I am using ARC 160 and have a premium subscription and downloading directly into scanner.

I live in Orangeburg County and the Palmetto 800 is being completely dominated by SCHP and State Transport Police. I get Orangeburg County Sheriffs Office in spots but having major difficulties following transmissions.

I have tried 3 different portable antennas. Whats even more strange is that I can't seem to pick up The Sheriff's Dept during the day. I get them at night, but once I do get them I have to pause on that transmission to try and get the other side of conversation.

Also I just can't seem to pick up the city of Orangeburg under just about any circumstances...which is dring me nuts...because operate a business in the city limits and would really like to hear whats going on around me throughtout the day.

Orangeburg Dept of Public uses LTR Passport..
Orangeburg County Sheriff's Dept uses Palmetto 800 Motorola Type II Smartzone

If anyone who lives in the area have any idea as to how to help me it would greatly be appreciateed!!

BTW I live off of ShillingsBridge Rd for those familiar with the area, if that makes a difference and my business is located on John C. Calhoun Dr.

Thank You in Advance,

Michael

I can answer part of your question...

Palmetto 800 has not started migrating frequencies, yet. They are still negotiating with Sprint/Nextel. It will be some time before they start the reconfiguration process. Most likely, you will have to update the firmware in your scanner when the rebanding process starts so that you can follow the new channel number scheme.

Also about Passport, I understand that it is not a "scannable" format. You can enter each channel of the trunked system in your scanner, but you won't be able to track the trunked traffic.

LTR Passport Scanning Info

Program each repeater in conventional mode, with NO delay on the repeaters or you will get locked on that repeater from the data bursts which occur every two to four seconds. There is NO trunktracking an Passport system. You can hear the comms just fine.. but have to put up with the data bursts. Youmay want to dedicate a bank alone for that system.
