Since this is a topic that comes up rather frequently, I thought I might throw a couple of very useful links out here...

That first one is on a site run by my friend Ulis Fleming K3LU. It has reviews, dedicated receiver pages, mailing lists, you name it, it's probably here somewhere.
The mailing lists are very valuable; here, you can join the various lists and find out about a receiver before you buy it. Nothing like talking to actual owners and finding out the good and bad before you plunk down money.
The Eham link is more oriented to user comments; still useful second hand information.
