I'm about to buy my first digital scanner, sick of not being able to listen to the Kentucky State Police. What I'm wanting to know is if there is a difference in the reception between the two? Also whats a good antenna to get for either of these scanners
I just bought the pro-197 and am very pleased so far. GRE as you probably know makes both,the pro-106/ pro-197 and the receiver are pretty much the same,judging by the fact that the same manual is used by both. However if you choose to use the r/s programming service they offer at some stores,then you might not get correct data need for ky.
I am using their 800mhz.6" duck on the back with an elbow bnc adapter and I am hearing most of the sites listed,although I'm sure I could come up with a better antenna if I scrounge around here.
If you decide you want the GRE versions of either radio then my buddy is a dealer/distributor for GRE and can probably offer you quite a deal! Tell him john referred you,and it might help.
