I just changed the antenna ( Taurus D330 Outside) and Coax. lmr-400 on my Whistler TRX-1 and Uniden BCD-536HP, yet there are frequencies I’m not receiving; however, when I put that same antenna on a Baofeng DM-32UV, it picks up many strong, clear signals that neither of the scanners receives at all. Is this normal? Could the Baofeng actually have better reception than a "mid-to-high-end" scanner?

I have an adapter on the Baofeng; on the Whistler and Uniden, it's connected directly to the BNC.

Start working through everything one by one until you find the fault.

Scanners tend to have wide open front ends with minimal filtering. If your new antenna/coax is better than what you had previously, you may be getting stronger signals into the scanner than can overload the receiver.

Try the scanners with a simple antenna connected directly to the antenna jack, and see if reception improves.

Any chance you transmitted in close proximity to the new scanner antenna?

There's a lot of possible causes here and you'll need to start narrowing down the issue. We can throw ideas out, but there's not a lot of info to work with.

It's the squelch usually. I noticed this too between my TRX1 and UV5. The baofeng is better at opening. There a few UHF frequencies I can't pick up on the whistler or when I do it drops out a lot, seems to be overmodulated sounding audio a lot of the time causing it, also one time I believe it was RF signal overload. Is very sensitive receiver but very finicky on analog FM modes. AM and DMR/NXDN I never have an issue.

Another thing is it's (TRX1) very prone to cellular interference on some parts of the 800 band, my local utility used to be on 854.8125 and I could receive them outdoors portable no problem, then they moved to 855.4125 and whenever I walk outside it's wiped out by this full bars noise really strong so that I can't receive it anymore. I managed to DF it to one specific cell tower, I finally got around this week to placing an order for a Comet CH32, if that doesn't help I might have to get that 800 bandpass filter from scannermaster but it's really pricey compared to the rest.

Great radio with some (fatal at times) quirks, Really strongly considering buying the BCD436HP to be my new out and about portable despite how bad I remember it being when I first tested one for a month in Christmas 2014.

Have you checked that those DM32 frequencies are actually transmissions on those frequencies and not the result of overload issues that produce new intermodulation frequencies, they can actually be found in the database? As I remember when looking at reviews the Baofeng overloads very quickly. I've never managed to experienced any overload issues with my BCD536 and seems to have a very solid receiver with good sensitivity.

Do you have the attenuators on, on the scanners? That would cause some problems...
