Hello, I am looking at getting a BCT15X for scanning railroad frequencies. I'd prefer to have a rechargable battery outlet to hook it up to in the car instead of using the car itself. The scanner would be the only thing it would be powering. The longer it lasts, the better, although 6-8 hours (even if it means getting multiple batteries to swap out) is roughly what I'd be looking for.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

If you are an Amazon shopper, go there and search for “12 volt battery pack.” You will find several options.

Since you haven't purchased it yet have you thought about getting a handheld scanner instead?

Thanks everyone for the help so far.

I do have a BC125AT which is good, but I'd like to get something that can pick up farther when I'm in the car.
