the latter is stereo only and I want the scanner audio separate, without being mixed.
Yes, but I was thinking that you perhaps didn't need a stereotrack to be recorded with the video, then one channel used for video and the other for the scanner audio and as it is a digital recording there's no crosstalk between channels. There's usually a way to split the mic cable to only use one channel and the other plugs into the scanner.

If you have a scanner that use WiFi or Bluetooth then that can also stream audio and then a mobile phone can use a suitable kind of app that has a recording function that can be set to do constant record of that source to its memory card.

Thank you for this info. It seems in the screenshot in your later post, the app recordings are also squelch activated seeing that they are only a few seconds in length. But please do enlighten if there is a way to record true continuous recording int he app (including the silences) in a single file.
The 'separate files' generated via recording contain the basic statistics of each transmission- frequency, talkgroup (if from a trunked system). and the channel details (system & department if the channel (or TGID) was programmed. While I see your point about wanting a continuous recording, with gaps of silence to sync up with a video, there's no current Uniden scanner that will do that. It's not an option with the Whistler scanners either, as far as I know.
