(CBS4) RED FEATHER LAKES, Colo. Fire destroyed a historic cafe in Red Feather Lakes Tuesday morning. A man who works at another restaurant in the small tourist village spotted the smoke and flames at the Red Feather Cafe while driving to work at about 5:40 a.m.
The small community is about 45 miles west of downtown Fort Collins in the Poudre Canyon in Larimer County.
Tim Johnston told CBS4 he saw smoke and flames shooting 20 feet into the air from the Red Feather Cafe. He asked a woman working in the nearby General Store to call 911.
The cafe was reportedly built in 1927.
