I have Regency ACTR-10 that scans and receives normally for about 15 minutes after you turn it on. Then it will just stop on one channel and will not scan anymore. If you turn the unit off, wait a bit and then turn it on again it repeats this same malfunction. While stuck on the channel (randomly stops on a channel) it will squelch when manually adjusted to check for audio. It does receive normally when scanning for the first 15 minutes.
I really like this unit and just put it in service with new crystals. I appreciate any help with this.
Thank you.

The first thing you need to do is isolate the problem. A can of component cooler aka freeze spray applied sparingly to one component at a time will reveal the one or the area of the board that is heat sensitive. Look carefully for a bad solder joint, you may see a bubble or a pin hole in an eyelet. Failing that a careful solder touch up of the area is next, poor PC soldering can show up long after the unit passed QC and left the factory. Far less likely yet within the realm of possibility is a component has gone sour but you'll never find a thermal problem without cooling the usual suspects while the scanner is hot. Work slowly one thing at a time, when you chill the bad joint or component the scanner will suddenly come to life and when the baddie heats up again it will quit on you, repeat to verify and get out your soldering gear.

Thank you for that info. Unfortunately I have no idea what you're talking about or what to look for. My talents are ltd. to plugging in the crystals. I make no attempt to understand what I don't know...it usually causes me to spend twice as much $ to repair something than if I took it to a pro.
I'm also very ltd. by time as I work 72 hrs/week so I wouldn't be able to sit down an figure it out.
Thank you for your time though.
