Remtronix antenna difference

What is the difference between the 810s and 820s. I have been running an 810s on my SDS100 and just got an 820s and wow I notice a huge difference in clarity and reception. Especially clarity. I know the 820s has the little rubber O ring bit is that seriously what is causing such a huge difference.??

Actually the 820s when screwed on the sds100 actually fits it properly the center pin makes contact with the connection on the scanner.
