I dug out my Grecom PSR300 scanner today to get it ready for the Cleveland Air Show. Unfortunately my antenna got broken somehow since last year. To my surprise and disappointment I can’t find any retail store that sells scanner antenna in the area. I guess I missed all the Radio Shacks closing. I went to a few businesses that came up as radio suppliers in the area, but they were either manufacturers or companies that just sell the high end stuff to police, and fire departments.

Anyway I am go to airshow practice on the days before the airshow so I don’t have time to wait for one to come via the online retailers.

So my question (admittedly a long shot) Does anyone know of a retail storefront in the Cleveland area (preferably west side) that sells scanners and scanner supplies?

Thanks.

Another option would be Micro Center.

Mainly computer stuff, but they also do carry some basic electronics, connectors, etc.

Never know until you call or stop by.

Thanks. An Apple Maps search shows the closest CB store to be in Toledo. (1+30 drive) However you gave me an idea. I‘ll try one of those big highway truck stop franchises. They always seem to have a section that sells CB radio stuff.

I went to DX Engineering today. A bit of a haul from my house, but fun seeing all the hot rod/dragster stuff. I had never been there before. I bought a RH77CA antenna. Tested it a little bit at the house this evening. It is a perfect replacement for my old broken one. I‘m heading down to BKL tomorrow to check out the airshow practice/military arrivals.

Thanks both of you for the recommendations!

I generally go off of the NOTAM times where the airspace is blocked up to 16,000ft.

Tomorrow it shows 3:45-5:45
Friday it shows 10:00-1:00, and 1:45-5:00

It isn’t all jets practicing in those times, but it can’t be jets practicing outside of those times.

If I’m lucky, I catch the Air Boss calling lunch time/be back time on the scanner. So then I go up to Slyman’s for a corned beef sandwich knowing I won’t miss anything while I’m gone. That way I’m back in my spot before they start back up again.

Re: East 9Th-You’re right, that is a great spot. That is my favorite spot during Blue Angel years. The solo low transition takeoff to the west happens right in front of you.

Please provide the Air Boss frequency if you can, plus any other active frequencies. Coming from Erie on Sunday. Still using a Uniden BC3000XLT for the Thunderbirds. Still working great!

The MircroCenter in Columbus has had SDS200's before

The Air Boss frequency today was AM 127.95.

Real action packed practice today. F18 twice, F22, F15, AV8 Harrier, and the Thunderbirds flew twice. This years airshow is much better than the past few years.
