I am looking for a rf 310m-hh. I've been everywhere. Even looking over seas. I can't find any. If anyone knows of one for sale, can you post the link or something. Sick of finding TCA and TRI clones!

It also depends on the version and features you are looking for. One with internal GPS, AES/DES, OTAR, P25, High-Band and still has it's factory initialization intact, would be difficult very to find and could cost you a small fortune!

Probably there are some for sale at bazaars in Pakistan....

I'm not aware of an ebay site covering Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria, etc....but if there was one, sooner or later such gear would turn up.

Pakistani bazaars ARE largely black market, or at least they're an easy way to find what you need...if you're there, and you have a guide, and you're careful. Nothing I want to be involved with, personally.

I will say that the latest TCA branded PRC-152 replica, with external keypad, looks pretty good and reviews on it are positive.

I know, I know, it's a far cry from the real deal but for the low price you can pretend AND have a rather functional dual band radio.

If they had a version that truly replicates the full band limits and modes (AM, FM, P25) of the real thing, I might get one.
I would just like for it to have full VHF, full UHF, and VHF-AM for aviation. If it operates in just receive mode in the remainder of bands between 30 and 512 MHz that'd be a nice bonus. Of course P25 conventional would be welcome but probably very unlikely. Ultimately the radio is a Baofeng or similar Chinese radio in a specific form factor.

Since the 152 and related radios (RF-7800 and 310) are currently supported, don't expect to see many of them hitting surplus channels just yet. That will eventually happen but you'll have to be patient.

An amount of PRC-152s have shown up on the surplus market by mistake and are not legal to own, but that doesn't seem to stop the buyers. An amount of RF-310s have been surplused and some 7800 series also.

Here is part of an ad from a few years ago and I have personally seen some of the radios from this ad.

These were advertised to collectors on a closed group and the public was probably never aware.

The PRC-152's are not supposed to go to surplus, as are any other current CCI devices.They are basically "supposed" to be turned in and destroyed.

They use an imbedded cryptographic architecture that can not be physically removed from the radio and it still be functional. The keys and the associated cryptographic "modules" can be erased but that doesn't mean that the radio is no longer classified as a CCI.

Since I NOW know that the PRC-152 is being replaced by the PRC-163, I have to just wonder how long it will be before there is a PRC-163 clone radio for the airsoft market. Something tells me it won't be very long.

I'd like to know how the companies that make the copies (TCA and TRI) are able to get their hands on radios to copy, usually so relatively quickly. As I recall, TRI had a PRC-152 copy on the market pretty fast after the PRC-152 started going into service.

I'm sure they scour the internet looking at images and more than likely search ebay and forums for the export and PRC versions of radios to get their hands on. Back in 2010 there was a Chinese national who was caught by the FBI for obtaining PRC-148's and other CCI equipment on ebay to send back to China.

"Falco Communications" has a youtube video of them doing a side-by-side comparison of a Thales AN/PRC-148 to their "AN/FCS-148 replica. The ThalesPRC-148 is on the right and is stuck in a power-up boot loop. The "TESTING" screen of the PRC-148 stops for a second and then shows "TESTING" again. That indicates that it is not functioning properly and can't complete the POST.

Yep, that will also result in the Tamper Detect being displayed, when switching the radio to CT.

Most of the RF-310s I know of purchased by collectors were in the $3k to $4k range. Several were purchased much cheaper from out of the country then got marked up to the $3-$4k range. I had an RF-5800V-HH that cost me about $1k.
