I was in lexington the other day on a road trip and i heard the most awful sound..I was listning to the ksp and one side of the conversation was encrypted..Not sure if he was talking to a dispatcher or another ksp unit...I hope this is no indication of thing's to come..

Interesting...I will have to keep my ears open and see if I get the same results. Thanks for the heads-up!

I monitor Richmond pretty much all the time and haven't heard any encryption used that I'm aware of. What kind of scanner do you have? I think with the unidens if you're hearing encrypted conversations it will display ENC in the lower right hand corner of the display. About 2 weeks ago I think they were having problems with their radios because I would only hear half of the conversation and one of the units notified them that he couldn't hear them and the dispatcher reset the towers and everything worked fine after that. I'll keep my ears open and see what happens. Hope this is not a sign of things to come.

Depending upon where you might have been and which freq you were monitoring, sometimes transmissions from Post 7 might not fully decode... This is especially true when mobile because of the locations of the towers and the terrain in part of the Richmond Post territory...

Please post your findings in the richmond ksp post area or other ksp post areas for encrypted communications. I sure would hate to pay 500 dollars for nothing here in the London and harlan post area if encryption is the case then Ill pass and keep useing my analog scanners.
Any info would be appreciated

+1

So far, that's all I've heard on my Pro-97...no encryption at all.
