I don't quite understand "working selcal". Gander, Shannon and Reykavik are in the MWARA group "NATC" and Gander and Shannon in group NATF. Whenever an aircraft enters those groups he has to establish HF communication with his appropriate ground station and test the aircraft selcal system by sending those tones and if all is good the aircraft will reply "selcal check OK" or similar. This is regardless of the aircraft actually using CPDLC.

Sorry . . . "working selcal" is my shorthand for getting the confirming the three-tone codes.
