Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey – Tupelo – April 11-14, 2013

The family is planning on going to the circus!

Circus licensed frequencies - ULS License - Industrial/Business Pool, Conventional License - WPNR333 - FELD ENTERTAINMENT INC - Frequencies Summary

An old post around here at RR reports the circus using marine band radios as well.

Previous RR mentions about the circus. - RadioReference.com - Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

I’m assuming the BancorpSouth Arena is on the TRS system or one of the Tupelo City frequencies since an FCC license search didn’t turn up anything specific to the Arena. Anyone know for sure?

And the big question is...does anyone know the route the Circus train will use to roll into Tupelo? (If I wasn't so lazy I would research the venue the Circus will leave prior to Tupelo.)

Circus Train

Getting past my laziness, I see where the Gold Edition of The Ringling Brothers Circus will be in Murray, Kentucky prior to the Tupelo appearance. The most direct route will be over the West Tennessee (?) Railroad south into Jackson, TN and then to Corinth, MS and ontoTupelo.

The window or opportunity for seeing the circus train is from April 7 to April 11. Depending on timing, there is a web cam in Corinth with a position noted at the crossroads of the Norfolk-Southern & the Kansas City Southern (?).

I have found a number of talkgroups that aren't listed in the database, but I've never heard any traffic on the TRS that would lead me to think it was the BancorpSouth Arena. It's possible I've missed it, but I've been scanning that system for quite a while now. Maybe someone else will know for certain though.

RBB&B GOLD uses 18 Wheelers and Busses, and RV's. So comms are CB, Cell, and itenerant Business....... TPD would probably use like a TAC, or EVENT TG......, and if TFD is going to stage a unit they would use same. LCSO may even have deputies working it also.

After Action Report

One confirm for RB, B&B Circus:

151.925 – used by circus staff (inside) during the one o’clock show.

Also, Spanish was heard on 151.955 just outside Bancorp South Arena immediately following the one o’clock show.

Nothing that I could determine to be Arena ops was heard on the Lee County TRS.
