River Boats

I used to listen to the river boats up & down the rivers and in and out of diffrent ports but I can not seem to find them now. Does anyone know what freq. they are on now and are they as active as they used to be?

Well, I am pretty sure they are not using HF much. Try the marine VHF channels. Most new scanners come with them already pre-programmed. If yours doesn't you can find them detailed in the RR Wiki pages.

Like Lou said they are probably on VHF. The Coast Guard has an
extensive system of remote sites on the MS, MO, OH and other rivers
that have barge traffic.

and click on 2 MHz Simplex Frequencies and HF Simplex frequencies
That is probably where they would be on HF.

I used to listen to them in the 4Khz range I could hear them talking back to each other. I guess you are right they must have all went to VHF.... oH WELL IT WAS WORTH A TRY.
