Suspect was tasered not shot and he was transported to Norman ER code 1, so it must not have been that bad.

Well

Yeah its kinda wierd. See the casino itself is in Goldsby city limits. However, Goldsby FD is all volunteer and their law enforcement consists of one unarmed officer, he doesnt even write traffic tickets.

When the casino was being built the Chickasaw's went to the City of Norman and wanted to sign a contract for fire & ems, X amount of dollars a year. Well Norman FD does not want to cross the river bridge. So then the the tribe went to the city of newcastle with the same offer. See HWY 9 and everything on the north side to the river is Newcastle Fd and Pd. Even though some of it has Norman addresses. Well newcastle is using the money from the contract to remodel their station over there to accomodate an aerial and living quarters. They also hired three new ff's and are suppossed to be writing a grant for the aerial.

The deal has not went into effect yet so its kind of touch and go, but so far norman fd and emstat have responded to most calls down there. Of course the casino has their own emts on the premises along with securtiy gaurds and the lighthorsemen (is that right?) for law enforcement.

This incident was supposed to have happened on hwy 9. Sorry for the long essay, told ya it was wierd.

Take it easy, Jon

OK
Actually, I think that everything *south* of the river but north of SH9 is Newcastle PD/FD. My understanding for law enforcement is that Newcastle PD and Chickasaw Lighthorse PD are cross-deputized, but I'm not 100% sure.

I do see Newcastle officers making regular traffic stops on SH9, so I reckon that both sides of the highway in this area are within Newcastle, rather than just the north side.

yeah basically and with the lighthorsemen being federal along with mutual aid agreements its nothing to see them in newcastle out and about. I have even seen them here in Bridge Creek assisting Grady Co and OHP a couple weeks ago. They seem to work well with other LE agencys. I dont know what frequency they operate on or who does their dispatch but they do monitor and have the ability to transmit when needed on Newcastle PD's frequency. The more the merrier i say.
