Does anyone know what frequency Rochester CERT uses? I noticed multiple volunteers using the Baofeng UV-5R. I assume they're all Hams. I wasn't able to pick up anything with Unidans close call.
"Rochester, Michigan CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) does not have a publicly available designated frequency. CERT teams typically utilize frequencies assigned to local emergency services, such as fire or police departments, or may have their own assigned frequencies that are not publicly broadcast. To determine the specific frequency used by the Rochester CERT, it's best to contact the team directly through official channels like the Rochester Hills website."
So it appears they work off local services depending on what area they are working in. Guess you have to use close call when you know they are active to figure out what channel they are on at any given time.
The RFD CERT assists the fire and police departments with large scale incidents and events. Our goal is to do the most good for the most people, and we accomplish this by extending the resources available to the emergency response agencies within the City of Rochester and the surrounding area.
I'm thinking first thing is to program all FRS and GMRS freqs into a radio and hit scan.
Me thinks the odds are fairly high you will get a hit, and find out what you wanted to know.
Not too recent research on starting my own, I contacted what used to be "neighborhood watch" they sent a letter and application in response. There wasn't a group in my area, not assigned frequencies. Seems that is a social media thing, like a group on Facebook or "Neighbors".
