Not receiving Rockport Tx police anymore. Seems the EDACS control channel only buzzes for a few seconds then nothing. Anyone know if they changed radio systems ?

The Rockport site in all likelihood moved to the P25 system like all the others. You can find it here.

The FCC license changed (now WRDZ534), but the 4 frequencies stayed the same. They did also have a STA license WQVB440 that expired in 2022 that can be checked if nothing else works:

851.3625, 852.3625, 852.8625, 853.3625

I have heard both Rockport and Aransas Pass on their VHF in recent years, but only AP on EDACS some years ago. We are never close enough to Rockport to get a good lock on that 800 side. I would bet they will always have both ready to go in case of tropical weather.

I tried programming the Rockport site in P25 (costal bend regional) but nothing to hear there either. Have been monitoring the Rockport GATRRS site with nothing heard ever. I also found Rockport Fire Dept has some new P25 frequencies. I heard some testing of alert tones the other day but no other transmissions.

Was in Rockport this afternoon and can confirm that there are no 700/800 sites other than the GATRRS on the TxDOT tower that has no activity. It appears that comms are conventional but have switched to P25 now. Only one confirmed is Aransas County SO on 155.25 with a NAC of 293.

Is it an EDACS control channel (buzz with a rhythmic hammer sound) or P25 (more like automatic gunfire)? Look at this page for examples.

Sounds like an EDACS control channel. The Aransas Co Sheriff simulcast is heard on 155.0626 p25 but just carrier squelch on the EDACS. I have the ProVoice upgrade

I was trying to see if I could hear a control channel but I am a little to far from Rockport to pick up anything. As far as I know Rockport was never Provoice, I am in Corpus Christi and the EDACS system is still going along with the new CBRIN system. We are waiting for them to kill the EDACS system but from what I have heard not every agency is onboard with P25 Phase 2 yet radios ....So EDACS stays alive!

This morning I was hearing Aransas Sheriff on the Rockport EDACS. But still no Rockport City. Seems sporadic so maybe I have reception issues. I’m about 12 miles from the Rockport site. Also have close by cell towers maybe blocking signals Anyway seems like the Rockport EDACS is still operating

I’m looking deeper into Aransas County, they have some issues with their licenses I am noticing. KUE509 which is their main SO license for two P25 LSM sites for three repeaters (154.1075, 155.0625 and 155.2500) expired back in 2021. They have a current license on WQLI486 for a repeater on 158.7525 which has a control station at Rockport PD. I’m typing this on mobile and it will make more sense when I can get to my laptop and not be bouncing around from tab to tab. I’ll reply with more later.

Let's all go meet in Rockport one day and figure this system out...Ha!

The only reason I would be going to that area would be if I got an invite to see a Starship launch from a good viewing point on South Padre. Otherwise, I don't have justification for that long of a road trip from the other end of the state (Halfway between Dallas and the Red River)

So here is the conventional side rundown of what Aransas County has as of today:

County
EMS Dispatch (old?)155.4000 RX159.015 TXWZM796Expired 5/22
Sheriff Simulcast154.1075 RX151.3925 TXKUE509Expired 4/21
Sheriff Simulcast155.0625 RX151.4000 TXKUE509Expired 4/21
Sheriff Simulcast (Disp)155.2500 RX156.0300 TXKUE509Expired 4/21
Sheriff 800 Simulcast859.9625 RX814.9625 TXWRDU708Current
???158.7825 RX154.7475 TXWQLI486Current
Fire Paging?154.4000 RXWNFC441Current
Fire Central (Rockport)154.2500 RX158.8950 TXWQJJ913Current
Fire North (Holiday Beach)155.8125 RX158.7825 TXWQJJ912Current
Fire Repeater (Rockport)151.3250 RX156.1950 TXWPCQ652Current
Fire South (Rockport)158.8050 RX154.0550 TXWPCQ652Current
Rockport
Police Dispatch155.4300 RX154.7250 TXKZT351Current
Police Mobile159.1500 RXKZT351Current
Fire/EMS155.0925 RX159.0525 TXWQHL342Current
Fire/EMS151.1150 RX156.2250 TXWQHL342Current

So based on the above list, there are a few substantial differences in the current database that need to get resolved. It is noted that ACSO is using 155.250 currently, which is expired by a few years now. I checked the statewide just to be sure it wasn't licensed in an adjacent county, no dice there either. Fire North was changed from 154.370 to 155.8125 back in 2012. That's another to check out, as well as the hereto undiscovered repeaters on 158.7825, 151.1150, 151.3250, 154.1075 and the 800 simulcast 859.9625 which may be an analog backup for the trunk system there. Harvey probably had a lot of these systems used, destroyed, rebuilt and repurposed since the last major updates here.

Bottom line, most folks are there to fish and the fish don't bite when the scanner is chirping. It will be a fun task for someone who is into taking it on.

I'll plug all these frequencies into one of my scanners and run my mag mount scanner antenna on my vehicle to see if I can catch any traffic. Ok I've programmed all these frequencies conventionally I'll monitor today and see id I can hear anything from Corpus Christi.

I just noticed I did a typo, the unknown use repeater for Aransas County is 158.7525.....the 158.7825 is an input for the Holiday Beach fire repeater. Plug that one in too.

Copy that and entered. I entered everything in convention mode... I'm getting some kind of static on 159.0925 it could be interference from all the computers and monitors I have in my room....:) I'll keep listening.
