I just heard one of the "delta units" requesting another unit to "go to secure." I am only aware of PD channels 1 and 2 and as far as I know I thought they were both in analog. Does RPD have the ability to switch to encrypted? Just to clarify, the transmission was go to secure, not are you secure. (as when checking for warrants)

Yes only the "Delta" units (detectives) can go encrypted. They been able to do this since around 1998 I belive. Also did you notice their transmissions are very low in vol.? been like that since early 80's.

Yes I have noticed that about the volume. When RPD channel 2 was used as channel 1, the audio quality was much better. Now since the switched to 477.5500, the volume stinks. It doesn't matter whether it's on my scanner or on my portable, sound quality is horrible. They are hands down the worst with that in Union county.....

Are you programed and monitoring in FM Narrow Band? If not you should be.

The radio volume on Ch 1 has been low since the last upgrade somewhere around 2003.
