Its not like the old days, everything is done over cad. That's where a lot of the money went to. They already had apx radios, you also need to understand that they have six repeaters. Not sure the thought process on that one long term wise, however originally it made sense. Now that the t-band give up is over, does it really matter. The future will be lte/5g radio, brace yourself for it. They have cap plus system and ltr system at the conventional center, imagine the possibilities. Just think if they took down the three linked received sites on uhf main channel how much chaos would ensue when they attempt to talk in the concrete jungle on river road. A cap plus with receive sites linked via internet and not microwave might change things. Oh, and then patching one (or many) of the talk groups to starcom21 talk group(S) would be a brilliant idea. No overages, maintained systems costs, encryption if you wanted at your control. Maybe a extend partnership with several communities to build out a group wide system. Early days of nwcds....before starcom21 node. Lets us not forget what happens in Rosemont stays in Rosemont, cough cough cad, private dispatch.
Before Norcom the radio repeater system was complete garbage. At least with Norcom it works.
