Dated info, but when I was in Des Plaines back in Memorial Day weekend, their frequencies were pretty active. I'm not aware of any switch over plans, unless someone else wants to chime in on that (maybe Am92?).

I heard them on a STARCOM21 tech/demo talkgroup a few months ago performing coverage testing. Give a listen for new talkgroups on SC21 Site 149 (North Cook County / NWCD) if you're able.

Now that you bring that up, I do remember hearing Motorola techs testing on TG 20 in the Rosemont area a while ago.

I haven't seen anything new, although techs were doing extensive in building testing last week somewhere off of site 149, switching between TG20 (Phase 2) and an unknown channel 2. I didn't see the two tech RIDs show up anywhere else on 149 or 501 so I'm guessing that channel 2 was something simplex or low power. Never heard a location mentioned, just general locations like "northwest corner of the building."

Not seeing any new RIDs on any of the known talkgroups, and not really seeing any new or all of a sudden active talkgroups.

Their UHF repeater doesn't come in that well out here but the last hit ProScan shows for me was last night (7/4) a little after 6PM.

FWIW, Rosemont's Board of Trustees approved a purchase of $719k of Motorola equipment for the public safety department as well as a new console for NORCOMM back in May. I highly doubt they'd already be there much less in use though. NORCOMM already has at least one console active, 5770016, used for Elmwood Park. I do not see any new RIDs on that talkgroup so don't think Rosemont is there unless EP gave them portables to borrow.

I listened to 476.675 for at least a couple of hours today. The only transmission I heard was a unit advising NORCOMM that they were back in town. Then, just as I was about to give up listening to that frequency, I heard a unit dispatched to take a report at the CTA "L" station. I would certainly expect a lot more traffic if this was their primary dispatch frequency.

Its not like the old days, everything is done over cad. That's where a lot of the money went to. They already had apx radios, you also need to understand that they have six repeaters. Not sure the thought process on that one long term wise, however originally it made sense. Now that the t-band give up is over, does it really matter. The future will be lte/5g radio, brace yourself for it. They have cap plus system and ltr system at the conventional center, imagine the possibilities. Just think if they took down the three linked received sites on uhf main channel how much chaos would ensue when they attempt to talk in the concrete jungle on river road. A cap plus with receive sites linked via internet and not microwave might change things. Oh, and then patching one (or many) of the talk groups to starcom21 talk group(S) would be a brilliant idea. No overages, maintained systems costs, encryption if you wanted at your control. Maybe a extend partnership with several communities to build out a group wide system. Early days of nwcds....before starcom21 node. Lets us not forget what happens in Rosemont stays in Rosemont, cough cough cad, private dispatch.

Before Norcom the radio repeater system was complete garbage. At least with Norcom it works.
